Shamyra Zeradi was a Betazoid Starfleet officer who served most notably as the ship's counselor aboard the U.S.S. Alliant in the early 24th Century.
Starfleet Academy[]
In her Sophomore year at Starfleet Academy, Shamyra became the upperclassman mentor of Calius Kirk. Together they shared a dorm with a conjoined kitchen and living room and spent lots of out of class time together. Shamyra was also, along with Donny Rembrandt, one of the first people outside of a few Defiant crewmembers to see Q use his powers. The incident happened one evening when Shamyra peered out the dorm window to see Calius walking with a man she'd never seen before. Shamyra watched suspisciouly as the man talked with Calius for a while and then hugged her. To her surprise the man disappeared into thin air. Shamyra didn't know exactly what to think, but decided based on Calius's closed emotions about the issue, not to question her too much about it. The next day when Shamyra's best friend, Calvin Kwiatowski, told her that Donny Rembrandt had seen a strange older man with Calius, she knew that Donny must have seen the same thing she had. Calvin was under the impression that the man meant Calius harm, but Shamyra reassured to him that the man was not human, or even corpeal as far as she could tell. She had been able to glean off Q's aura that he was a very old and wise entity that had nothing but amnity towards Calius. Calvin was still hardly convinced.
In February 2307, Shamyra convinced Calius to attend the Academy's Valentine's Day Dance, along with her, Calvin, Buea Uhura, and Gabriel Kilroy. Calius was reluctant at first, but eventually agreed. A week after the dance Shamyra helped Calvin, Buea, Gabe, and Donny plan a surprise birthday party for Calius, and at the birthday party all of them formally met Q for the first time. Q explianed that he was "Calius's Uncle", but Shamyra, who had an idea of what Q was, wasn't the least bit convinced. Still she decided not to say very much about the matter.
A few days later, after Calius came out of her amnesia regaurding her kidnapping, Shamyra and the others stormed with Calius, Captains Fletcher and Aver, and Q to the Starfleet HQ building to demand that the Federation Council review Calius's case and recognize her once and forall as the daughter of James T. Kirk.
U.S.S. Alliant[]
In 2314, after finishing her doctorate studies in empathetic psychology at the Academy, Shamyra was accepted, at the behest of Calius, onto her first assignment as the head counselor of the U.S.S. Alliant.
